A tragedy changes Adela's life:
On a walk alone with her baby in the mountains, an eagle swoops down and carries off her baby.
After the loss of her youngest daughter, it is impossible for her to face her life as she has been doing so far.
As she tries to cope with the terrible grief, the people do not believe the eagle's story, and accuse her of being a murderer and a disturbed person.
